TV Channel Overview

TV Zimbo is a Portuguese-language general-interest television channel based in Luanda, Angola. It serves a national audience with a schedule that combines news and public affairs with entertainment, sports, cultural programming, and lifestyle content.

Current programming includes morning information shows, news bulletins, interviews and discussion, community-focused reporting, sports coverage, music, cinema, and variety formats. Reports from different parts of Angola bring provincial issues and public concerns into the schedule, while entertainment and cultural programs give space to Angolan music, personalities, and everyday life.

TV Zimbo began experimental broadcasting in 2008 as Angola's first private television station, ending the long-standing television monopoly of the state broadcaster TPA. Regular programming followed in 2009. The channel came under Angolan state control in 2020 as part of an asset-recovery process involving Grupo Medianova. In 2026, TV Zimbo remains state-held and is included in Angola's privatization program, while continuing to operate as a general-interest television service.
