TV Channel Overview
TPA (Televisão Pública de Angola) is Angola's public television broadcaster, headquartered in Luanda. It operates national television services including TPA 1, TPA 2, and TPA Notícias, with Portuguese as the principal broadcast language. Its channels serve audiences across the country with general-interest, youth-oriented, and news-focused programming.
TPA 1 carries a broad schedule of news, public affairs, culture, entertainment, sports, and locally produced programs. TPA 2 places greater emphasis on entertainment, youth content, cultural series, and sports, while TPA Notícias is dedicated to news, interviews, analysis, and coverage of national and international developments. Together, the channels combine public information with cultural and entertainment programming.
Regular television broadcasting in Angola began in Luanda in 1975. The service was nationalized in 1976 and became Televisão Popular de Angola. In 1997, it adopted the current name Televisão Pública de Angola. TPA later expanded its channel structure, with TPA 2 established in 2000 and TPA Notícias launched in 2022 as a dedicated news service.
