TV Channel Overview
RTNC (Radiotélévision Nationale Congolaise) is the national public radio
and television organization of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, headquartered
in Lingwala, Kinshasa. Its television and radio services address audiences
across the country, with news and public information forming a central
part of its output. Provincial operations contribute coverage from regions
beyond the capital.
After independence, the organization became Radiodiffusion Nationale Congolaise and later operated as the Office Zaïrois de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision during the Zaire period. It adopted the RTNC name in 1997. Its public-service mission encompasses information, education, and culture, while coverage extends to politics, society, health, education, security, sports, provincial affairs, and other national developments.
French is used alongside Lingala, Swahili, Kikongo, and Tshiluba in RTNC broadcasting, reflecting the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s multilingual environment. Through its national and provincial activities, RTNC reports on public institutions and events while also covering social, cultural, educational, and regional issues from different parts of the country.
