TV Channel Overview
Société Nationale de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision (SNRT / الشركة الوطنية للإذاعة والتلفزة) is Morocco's national public broadcasting organization, headquartered in Rabat. It operates television and radio services covering general programming, news, sports, education, culture, religion, and regional affairs, with individual channels serving different audiences and editorial purposes.
Language use varies considerably across the television network. Arabic and Moroccan Arabic (Darija) are widely used, while Amazigh languages, French, Spanish, and other languages appear according to the role and audience of each service. This multilingual structure reflects both Morocco's official-language framework and the country's wider linguistic environment.
Al Aoula (قناة الأولى / SNRT 1) is SNRT's main national general-interest television channel. It carries news, Moroccan fiction, public affairs, cultural programs, and family entertainment. Arabic and Moroccan Arabic (Darija) are widely used across the schedule, alongside news and selected programming in Amazigh, French, and Spanish.
Arryadia (قناة الرياضية / SNRT 3) is SNRT's national sports channel, covering Moroccan sports as well as selected international competitions. Its schedule includes matches, sports news, analysis, magazines, and coverage of a range of sporting disciplines. Arabic is used throughout much of its sports programming, with French also appearing in parts of the coverage.
Athaqafia (قناة الثقافية / SNRT 4) is devoted to culture, education, and knowledge. Its schedule includes educational programs, documentaries, literacy and learning content, cultural discussion, and programs dealing with Moroccan heritage and social issues. Much of this educational and cultural output is presented in Arabic, while Amazigh and foreign-language content also forms part of the schedule.
Al Maghribia (قناة المغربية / SNRT 5) is a general-interest service intended especially for Moroccans living abroad and international audiences interested in Morocco. Much of its schedule draws on programming and news from Al Aoula. Arabic and Moroccan Arabic (Darija) are widely represented, while French, Spanish, and Amazigh also appear in news and selected programming.
Assadissa (قناة السادسة / SNRT 6), also known as the Mohammed VI Holy Quran Channel, specializes in religious programming centered on Islam, Quranic studies, religious education, discussion, and coverage of religious events. Its religious and educational output is largely presented in Arabic, with some programs also available in Amazigh or foreign languages.
Tamazight TV (ⵜⴰⵎⴰⵣⵉⵖⵜ / SNRT 8) is a general-interest public television channel centered on Amazigh language and culture. Around 80% of its programming is broadcast in Amazigh, using the Tamazight, Tachelhit, and Tarifit varieties. Its schedule combines news, culture, documentaries, social programs, entertainment, and other general-interest content.
Laayoune TV (قناة العيون) is SNRT's regional television service for Laayoune and surrounding southern areas. News forms a significant part of its schedule, together with cultural, social, entertainment, and heritage programming reflecting the region. Most of the service is in Arabic, while Hassaniya Arabic appears in programming connected with local culture, identity, and community life.
