TV Channel Overview
Televisão de Moçambique (TVM) is Mozambique’s public television broadcaster,
headquartered in Maputo. Its origins reach back to television experiments
held during the Maputo International Fair in 1979, followed by experimental
public broadcasts in 1981. TVM remains part of the country’s public-service
media system, with a nationwide remit and programming intended for audiences
across Mozambique.
The broadcaster operates the main TVM service and TVM Internacional. Its schedule combines national and international news with public affairs, education, culture, sports, entertainment, and programs reflecting social issues and everyday life in Mozambique. Programming is presented in Portuguese and Mozambican languages, with national-language content forming part of its news and locally oriented output.
TVM maintains provincial television centers in different parts of the country, supporting reporting and programming beyond Maputo. TVM Internacional extends the broadcaster’s editorial focus to Mozambicans abroad, with content centered on the country’s social, political, cultural, and sporting life. Across its services, TVM gives particular space to national information, education, cultural expression, and Mozambican languages.
