TV Channel Overview
Télé Congo is the national public television channel of the Republic of the Congo, based in Brazzaville. It forms part of the Centre National de Radio Télévision congolais (CNRTV), the country’s public radio and television organization, also referred to in institutional and historical contexts as Radiodiffusion Télévision Congolaise (RTC). Radio Congo serves as the organization’s national radio service.
Experimental television broadcasts began in 1962, followed by regular service in 1963. As a general-interest channel, Télé Congo carries national news and public affairs together with interviews, cultural and social programs, sports, music, and entertainment. French is used alongside Kituba and Lingala, reflecting the multilingual environment of the Republic of the Congo.
The channel reports on national institutions, public events, social issues, cultural life, and developments from different parts of the country. Within a television environment that also includes private broadcasters, Télé Congo provides the national public television service, while its connection with Radio Congo places it within the broader public audiovisual structure of the Republic of the Congo.
