TV Channel Overview
TV Pública Argentina (Televisión Pública Argentina / TVP) is a Spanish-language
public television channel based in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires,
Argentina. Operated by Radio y Televisión Argentina S.A.U. (RTA), it serves
a nationwide audience and forms part of the broadcasting services administered
by the Argentine state.
Its schedule combines news and current affairs with documentaries, cultural programming, sports, health, travel, and programs devoted to regional life and agriculture. Coverage of festivals and events from different parts of the country reflects a federal programming focus, while news output addresses both domestic and international developments. RTA’s public-service mission also includes education, cultural diversity, national identity, and access to audiovisual communication across the country.
The channel traces its origins to Argentina’s first official television transmission in 1951, carried by LR3 Radio Belgrano, which later became known as Canal 7. That early service developed through later institutional and branding changes into today’s Televisión Pública, linking the channel directly to the beginnings of television broadcasting in Argentina.
