Overview
Begum TV is a Paris-based satellite television channel launched in March 2024 by the Begum Organization for Women to support Afghan girls and women who have been cut off from formal schooling.
The channel broadcasts structured video lessons based on the Afghan secondary school curriculum (grades 7–12), covering subjects such as mathematics, science, and languages, allowing students to continue their education from home.
In addition to academic courses, Begum TV airs programs focused on women’s rights, mental health, and everyday wellbeing, helping viewers address social and personal challenges.
Its evening schedule includes cultural and entertainment-oriented content, such as talk-style programs, music, poetry, and health-related discussions, offering both information and emotional support.
All programming is produced by Afghan women journalists working in exile and is broadcast in Dari and Pashto, the two main languages of Afghanistan. Through a mix of education, information, and cultural content, Begum TV provides an alternative source of learning and connection for women and families across the country.
Although Begum TV is based in Paris, its satellite broadcast is aimed primarily
at audiences in Afghanistan rather than international regions, while the
channel can also be watched via live streaming on its official website.
