TV Channel Overview
Radio Television Brunei (RTB) is Brunei Darussalam’s government-owned national
broadcaster, based in Bandar Seri Begawan and operating under the Prime
Minister’s Office. Its broadcasting history began with radio in 1957, while
television service started in 1975. RTB now operates three television channels
alongside five radio networks. Its television output covers national information,
news, education, religion, culture, drama, entertainment, and other public-interest
subjects.
RTB Perdana is the broadcaster’s information-oriented television channel. Its role centers on government policies, domestic and international news, current affairs, and other factual programming intended to provide viewers with information about developments in Brunei and abroad.
RTB Aneka has a family-entertainment focus. Its schedule combines entertainment with educational and family-oriented programs intended for different age groups, giving the channel a broad general-interest character within RTB’s television services.
RTB Sukmaindera is centered on locally produced programming and the presentation of Brunei Darussalam. Its schedule consists entirely of local television programs, with content reflecting the country’s society, culture, institutions, traditions, and national life.
Together, the three channels give RTB distinct television outlets for news and public information, family-oriented programming, and Brunei-produced content. The Television Programme Division also produces religious and educational programs, local drama, entertainment, children's and youth programming, quizzes, game shows, and government information campaigns. RTB completed its transition to HD digital television in 2018.
