TV Channel Overview
Astana TV is a nationwide general-interest television channel based in Astana, Kazakhstan. It began broadcasting in 1993 under the name Tsesna, was renamed As.TV in 2000, adopted the Astana name in 2004, and has used the AstanaTV brand since 2012.
The channel’s current programming combines national news and current affairs with public and political discussion, analytical and educational programs, entertainment, drama series, and films. Its news operation reports on developments across Kazakhstan through correspondents in regional centers as well as in major cities including Almaty and Shymkent. Kazakh is central to the channel’s output, while news is also presented in Russian.
Astana TV serves audiences across Kazakhstan rather than only the capital from which it broadcasts. Its schedule brings together reporting on government, society, and regional developments with locally produced programs, drama, films, and other entertainment content, giving the channel both an informational and general-entertainment role within Kazakhstan’s television landscape.
