TV Channel Overview
Qazaqstan (Қазақстан) is a nationwide television channel based in Astana,
Kazakhstan, and is part of the state-owned "Qazaqstan" Republican
TV and Radio Corporation («Қазақстан» республикалық телерадиокорпорациясы;
«Қазақстан» РТРК). It serves as the corporation’s national general-interest
channel, alongside specialized television services and a network of regional
broadcasters.
The channel traces its history to 1958, when television broadcasting began in Almaty as the first television service in Kazakhstan. After later becoming part of the national broadcasting corporation, Qazaqstan shifted to a fully Kazakh-language schedule in 2011. The corporation subsequently moved its main television operations to Astana.
Qazaqstan’s current schedule combines national and international news, current affairs, public and political discussion, cultural programs, domestic drama and series, music, entertainment, and other general-interest content. Its news output covers government, society, the economy, culture, and events across Kazakhstan, while other programs reflect the country’s language, history, traditions, and contemporary life. Through the wider Qazaqstan broadcasting system, the national channel is connected with regional television services serving communities across the country.
