TV Channel Overview
Balapan (Балапан) is a Kazakh-language children’s television channel based in Astana, Kazakhstan, and part of the state-owned "Qazaqstan" Republican TV and Radio Corporation («Қазақстан» республикалық телерадиокорпорациясы; «Қазақстан» РТРК). It broadcasts entirely in Kazakh, with schedules organized for different age groups and stages of development.
Animation, educational and knowledge-based programs, entertainment, music, sports, games, and competition formats all form part of the schedule. Topics include reading, science, nature, safety, digital literacy, healthy habits, teamwork, and Kazakh culture. The channel’s production approach brings together learning, participation, physical activity, creativity, and entertainment across a range of formats.
Balapan began broadcasting in 2010 as Kazakhstan’s first dedicated children’s television channel. Its establishment introduced a specialized service into the Qazaqstan corporation’s national television structure and expanded the space available for Kazakh-language programming aimed at younger audiences. The channel has since continued to develop content around education, culture, recreation, and everyday skills.
