Overview
ITN TV is the main television channel of Independent Television Network
(Sinhala: ස්වාධීන රූපවාහිනී මාධ්ය ජාලය; Tamil: சுயாதீன தொலைக்காட்சி ஊடக
வளையமைப்பு), commonly known as ITN, a state-governed media organization
headquartered in Battaramulla, within the Colombo District of Sri Lanka.
Originally launched in 1979, the broadcaster is recognized as one of the
country's long-established national television services and also operates
radio and multilingual media activities as part of its wider public broadcasting
operations.
The channel presents a broad mixture of programming that includes news,
current affairs, drama series, entertainment programs, music and variety
shows, educational content, children's programming, cultural features,
and religious broadcasts. Sinhala-language programming forms the core of
the schedule, while selected Tamil- and English-language content has also
been carried through ITN's wider media services. ITN TV additionally covers
national events, public-interest topics, and social issues connected to
Sri Lankan society.
