TV Channel Overview
Rádio e Televisão de Timor-Leste (RTTL; Tetum: Radio Televisaun Timor Leste) is Timor-Leste’s public radio and television broadcaster, headquartered in Dili. A national public broadcasting service was established in 2002, and RTTL was reorganized in 2008 as a publicly owned corporation with administrative, financial, and asset autonomy.
Its television programming places strong emphasis on national news and current affairs, while also covering international developments, sports, music, culture, education, and other subjects of public interest. Reports from municipalities contribute regional perspectives to the national service, and the broadcaster’s public-service mandate includes educational programming, cultural promotion, civic information, and coverage for different linguistic and social communities.
Tetum is the principal language across much of RTTL’s current output, while Portuguese and Indonesian are also used. As Timor-Leste’s national public broadcaster, RTTL combines nationwide news coverage with programs reflecting the country’s culture, public institutions, communities, and social development, alongside radio services operated within the same organization.
