TV Channel Overview
Turkmen TV is the national state broadcasting organization of Turkmenistan, officially operating under the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography. Headquartered in Ashgabat, the organization manages multiple nationwide television services covering news, public affairs, culture, music, sports, education, and general-interest programming in the Turkmen language, while also maintaining selected multilingual international broadcasting activities.
The broadcaster operates several television channels with different thematic focuses. Altyn Asyr serves as one of the country's principal general television channels and carries news bulletins, official events, discussion programs, documentaries, and cultural content. Ýaşlyk is oriented toward entertainment and youth-related programming, while Miras focuses primarily on Turkmen history, literature, traditions, and cultural heritage. Türkmen Owazy specializes in music-related programming connected to Turkmen musical culture and performances.
The organization also operates the international channel Turkmenistan,
which presents selected programming in multiple foreign languages including
English and Russian in addition to Turkmen. Other channels include Aşgabat,
dedicated mainly to programming related to the capital city, Türkmen Sport,
which focuses on sporting events and sports-related programs, and Arkadag,
a newer television service associated with the recently developed city
of the same name.
