Overview
Česká televise (Czech Television), commonly known as ČT, is the public
television broadcaster of the Czech Republic headquartered in Prague. Established
after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the organization operates
a group of nationwide television services covering news, culture, education,
sports, children's programming, and general entertainment.
Its principal channels include ČT1, a general-interest flagship service; ČT2, focused on documentaries, culture, history, and educational programming; ČT24, a 24-hour news and public affairs channel; ČT sport, dedicated to domestic and international sports coverage; ČT :D, a children's channel; and ČT art, specializing in cultural and arts-related programming.
Czech Television also maintains regional production centers in Brno and Ostrava and is involved in the production of original Czech drama series, documentaries, discussion programs, and cultural programming for nationwide audiences. Public affairs coverage, domestic productions, and news reporting remain important parts of the broadcaster's activities across its television services.
