Overview
Macedonian Radio Television (MRT / Македонска Радио Телевизија / МРТ) is
the public broadcasting organization of North Macedonia and is headquartered
in Skopje. The organization operates television, radio, and media services
serving audiences across the country. MRT is associated with several national
television channels carrying news coverage, cultural programming, documentaries,
sports broadcasts, educational programs, music-related content, and general-interest
television programming.
Its television services include MRT 1 (МРТ 1), the main general television channel focused on news, public affairs, and nationwide programming, and MRT 2 (МРТ 2), which includes programming for ethnic communities and multilingual audiences in North Macedonia. MRT 3 (МРТ 3) is associated with sports and entertainment-oriented broadcasts, while MRT 4 (МРТ 4) and MRT 5 (МРТ 5) are used for additional thematic and special-interest programming.
MRT also operates the satellite channels MRT1 Sat (МРТ1 САТ) and MRT2 Sat (МРТ2 САТ), which are intended for audiences outside North Macedonia as part of the broadcaster's international television activities. In addition, the MRT Assembly Channel (MRT Sobraniski Kanal / МРТ Собраниски Канал) is dedicated to parliamentary-related broadcasts connected to the Assembly of North Macedonia, including legislative sessions, institutional proceedings, and public affairs coverage associated with parliamentary activities.
