TV Channel Overview
Kanal D România began broadcasting in 2007 and operates as a national private general-interest television channel based in Bucharest, Romania. Dogan Media International S.A. holds the channel’s audiovisual license and forms part of the wider Doğan Holding group. Its domestic news, entertainment, and locally produced programs are primarily in Romanian.
The schedule combines news and current affairs with reality and competition formats, studio entertainment, factual and lifestyle programs, and scripted drama. Turkish television series have maintained a regular presence on the channel, while Romanian productions and adaptations of international formats contribute to its broader entertainment lineup. News bulletins and report-based programs add coverage of domestic events and social issues alongside the entertainment-oriented parts of the schedule.
Kanal D is part of Dogan Media International’s Romanian television portfolio together with Kanal D2, launched in 2023. Within Romania’s national television sector, it operates as a commercial general-interest service, bringing together locally produced programs, journalism, entertainment formats, and imported drama for a countrywide audience.
