San Marino’s position as a microstate surrounded by Italy gives its public broadcaster a particularly visible national role. San Marino RTV uses Italian across its television and radio services and covers Sammarinese news, institutions, culture, public affairs, and sport. Its public-service responsibilities also include education, social information, and the preservation of national identity, giving the broadcaster a role that extends beyond general programming into the civic life of the republic.
With one broadcaster carrying several public-service functions, Squid TV focuses on how those roles come together within San Marino RTV. The editorial profile brings together its language, programming scope, institutional background, and connection with the country it serves. Through that perspective, television becomes a useful point of entry into San Marino’s public life, cultural identity, national information, and relationship with a wider Italian-language media environment.
