TV Channel Overview
CNN-News18 is an English-language national television news and current
affairs channel headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. Launched
in 2005, it was formerly known as CNN-IBN. The channel is owned by TV18
Broadcast Limited and operates under a licensing agreement that allows
use of the CNN brand and access to CNN content, training, and services.
Indian news forms the center of its editorial output, with reporting on national politics, government, elections, public affairs, the economy, business, and developments across the country. Its own editorial team handles domestic coverage, while material from CNN International adds reporting on significant events elsewhere in the world. The channel also features interviews, debates, analysis, and field reports alongside regular news bulletins.
CNN-News18 is part of Network18's wider news portfolio, which also includes Hindi and regional-language channels. This structure places the service within a multilingual Indian news network while giving it a distinct role as the group's national English-language general news channel.
