TV Channel Overview
DD News Gujarati is the Gujarati-language regional news service of Doordarshan
News, based at the Regional News Unit in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It
forms part of Prasar Bharati, India’s public service broadcaster, and works
within the wider DD News network rather than as a separate national television
channel.
Its television output is centered on Gujarat, with regular morning, midday, afternoon and evening news bulletins. State government decisions, elections, civic affairs, weather, agriculture, health, business, sport and major events across Gujarat are reported in Gujarati. National and international developments are also included, alongside current-affairs discussions, field reports and special coverage of issues affecting the public.
The Ahmedabad unit contributes regional reporting, visual material and special programming to DD News and DD India in addition to producing Gujarati bulletins and programs. This gives the service a dual role: informing viewers within Gujarat and supplying the national public broadcasting network with news from the state.
