TV Channel Overview
Salaam TV is a pan-India Urdu-language news and current affairs channel
operated by Zee Media Corporation Limited. Formerly known as Zee Salaam,
it is one of the company’s national news services for Urdu-speaking audiences.
Its primary coverage region is Pan India.
News coverage ranges from regional and national developments to international affairs, with particular attention to issues concerning Muslim communities in India and elsewhere. Public affairs and social issues form part of its editorial scope, while cultural content includes events and mushairas, a form of Urdu poetry gathering.
A notable element of Salaam TV’s identity is its emphasis on Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, a shared cultural tradition associated with Hindu and Muslim influences in India. This cultural focus accompanies the channel’s broader role as a news service, combining general current-affairs reporting with subjects connected to the interests and cultural life of Urdu-speaking viewers.
