TV Channel Overview
Kan Educational (כאן חינוכית / Kan Hinuchit) is a Hebrew-language public television channel for children
and young people, operated by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation
(IPBC), also known as Kan. The broadcaster’s main headquarters are in Jerusalem,
Israel. The channel combines educational content with drama, comedy, factual
programs, and other age-appropriate entertainment.
Its programming addresses different age groups, from preschool children to older children and teenagers. Subjects range from science, history, culture, literature, and everyday knowledge to social themes and stories about school, family, and growing up. Fiction and entertainment appear alongside programs designed to explain ideas, encourage curiosity, and present information in formats intended for younger audiences.
Kan Educational began broadcasting in 2018, replacing Israeli Educational Television after that organization ended its television operations. The predecessor service had begun in 1966, giving educational television a long institutional history in Israel. Under Kan, the educational channel continues that public-service role within the corporation’s television structure, alongside Kan 11 and the Arabic-language Makan 33.
