TV Channel Overview
Al Mayadeen (قناة الميادين) is an Arabic-language news and current affairs television channel headquartered
in Beirut, Lebanon. Launched in 2012, it is part of the Al Mayadeen Media
Network and addresses audiences across the Arab region, with coverage of
Lebanon, the wider Middle East, and international developments.
News bulletins and field reports form the core of the channel’s schedule, alongside political discussions, interviews, analysis, special coverage, and documentaries. Its reporting frequently focuses on regional politics, armed conflicts, diplomacy, and international affairs, while economic, social, and cultural subjects also appear across its news and current affairs output.
The channel began broadcasting from Beirut in 2012 under the leadership of journalist Ghassan bin Jiddo, who had previously worked for Al Jazeera and headed its Beirut bureau. Al Mayadeen was established during a period in which pan-Arab satellite news channels already played a prominent role in the region’s television environment, adding a new Beirut-based outlet to that field.
