Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA; هيئة الإذاعة والتلفزيون) is Saudi Arabia’s government broadcasting organization, headquartered
in Riyadh. It operates television and radio services serving audiences
across the Kingdom and abroad, with programming spanning news, public affairs,
entertainment, sports, religion, culture, and national events.
Saudi TV (Al Saudiya / قناة السعودية) is the main general-interest television channel, combining news and national events with social, cultural, religious, documentary, drama, and entertainment programming.
Al Ekhbariya (الإخبارية) concentrates on Saudi, regional, and international news and current affairs.
SBC is a general entertainment channel featuring drama, entertainment, competitions, talk shows, and other programs aimed at a broad Saudi audience.
Saudi Sports Channels (القنوات الرياضية السعودية) cover Saudi sports and other sporting events, supported by sports news, studio discussion, and analysis.
Thikrayat (ذكريات) draws on Saudi television archives, presenting older artistic, cultural, and entertainment productions to contemporary audiences.
The Holy Quran Channel (قناة القرآن الكريم) centers on Quranic recitation and coverage from the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
The Sunnah Channel (قناة السنة النبوية) focuses on the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, including prayers, sermons, and other religious content.
Saudia Alaan (السعودية الآن), launched in 2023 as part of the SBA network, is dedicated to official events, conferences, activities, and other events held across the Kingdom.
Saudi television broadcasting began in 1965, while several of today’s specialized channels were introduced later, including Al Ekhbariya in 2004, the Holy Quran and Sunnah channels in 2009–2010, SBC in 2018, and Thikrayat in 2020. In 2018, the organization changed its English name from Saudi Broadcasting Corporation to Saudi Broadcasting Authority, adopting the SBA abbreviation. Its current television portfolio combines long-established national broadcasting with specialized news, sports, religious, archival, and event-focused channels.
