The channel gives substantial attention to events and public affairs within the Kingdom, including developments from different Saudi regions, while maintaining coverage of regional and global news. Economic reporting forms a notable part of its output alongside general news and current affairs.
Al Ekhbariya was launched in 2004 as a dedicated Saudi news channel. In 2017, the Saudi Economic Channel was merged into Al Ekhbariya, strengthening the economic component of its programming. The channel remains part of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority’s current television portfolio.
