TV Channel Overview
Show TV is a Turkish-language general-interest television channel based
in Beyoğlu District, Istanbul, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Operated by Show
Televizyon Yayıncılık A.Ş., it serves audiences across Turkey with a schedule
built around drama, entertainment, daytime programming, and news.
Drama series hold a central place in the lineup, alongside comedy and entertainment shows, competitions, magazine-style programs, and other daytime formats. Regular news bulletins cover domestic and international developments. Scripted series, studio programs, and news occupy different parts of the schedule, giving the channel a broad mix of fiction, entertainment, and information.
Show TV was founded in 1991, when private television broadcasting in Turkey was still in its early development. Private radio and television services had begun operating from 1990, before the constitutional public broadcasting monopoly was removed in 1993 and a formal regulatory framework followed in 1994. Show TV therefore belongs to the first generation of private television channels that emerged during Turkey’s transition from a state-dominated broadcasting system to an environment in which public and private broadcasters operated side by side.
