TV Channel Overview
Parliament TV is the official television channel of the New Zealand House
of Representatives, based in Wellington, Wellington Region, New Zealand.
Established in 2007, it was created to provide official television coverage
of all sittings of the House and is managed and funded by the Office of
the Clerk.
The channel carries parliamentary business from the debating chamber, including debates, oral questions, legislative proceedings, and other business conducted when the House is sitting. Replays of selected proceedings are also scheduled during sitting days. When the House is not meeting, Parliament TV presents information related to select committees, including opportunities for public submissions on bills, petitions, and inquiries.
Outside sitting periods, the schedule may also include documentaries about Parliament and New Zealand political history, programs related to public participation in parliamentary processes, and presentations of art from Aotearoa New Zealand. These programs complement the channel’s coverage of parliamentary proceedings by providing additional information about Parliament, its history, and opportunities for public engagement.
