Overview
KTUU-TV (Channel 2) is an NBC-affiliated television station based in Anchorage,
Alaska, United States. Its local news operation is presented under the
Alaska’s News Source name and covers Anchorage as well as communities and
events across the state. The station reports on public safety, state and
local government, elections, business, transportation, health, education,
and other matters affecting Alaskans. Its coverage also includes weather
forecasts and alerts, sports, community events, and investigative reporting.
KTUU’s broadcasting history dates to 1953, when the station began under an earlier call sign. It adopted the KTUU-TV call letters in 1981, and its news service was renamed Alaska’s News Source in 2020. According to the station, its news, weather, and sports coverage reaches a viewing area of more than 586,000 square miles. Broadcasts are also distributed to more than 200 rural communities through the Alaska Rural Communications Service. With its Anchorage base and broad statewide reach, KTUU-TV provides locally produced reporting alongside programming from the NBC network.
