TV Channel Overview
Hartford Public Access Television (HPATV) is a public, educational, and
government (PEG) community access television organization based in Hartford,
Connecticut, United States. Incorporated in 1976 and officially opened
in 1982, it provides Hartford residents, community groups, government bodies,
and educational institutions with access to local television resources.
HPATV organizes its television service into three channels: the Public Access Channel, Education Channel, and Government Channel. The Public Access Channel carries programs created by local producers, with staff offering training in planning, scripting, filming, audio, and editing. The Education Channel features Board of Education meetings, school events, educational programs, and other material with an educational focus. The Government Channel covers City Council meetings, public hearings, committee meetings, press conferences, workshops, seminars, and other civic activities in Hartford, along with selected state and federal government topics.
Beyond programming, HPATV provides production support and training to help community members create and share locally produced television content.
