TV Channel Overview
Westport TV (WPTV) is the government-access television service of the Town
of Westport, Connecticut, United States. Managed by the town’s Office of
Information Technology, it focuses on municipal proceedings and information
connected with local government.
A large part of WPTV’s programming is devoted to meetings of Westport boards and commissions, including the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, Representative Town Meeting, Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Conservation Commission. The service also provides schedules for town board and commission meetings, helping residents keep track of upcoming civic proceedings.
During election periods, WPTV includes local candidates’ debates, and its schedule may also feature special events and other town-produced programs. Within Westport’s PEG television structure, WPTV serves the government-access role, while separate channels are used for educational and public-access programming. This gives the service a clearly defined place in the town’s local information system.
