TV Channel Overview
The Florida Channel (TFC) is a statewide public affairs television service based at the Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, United States. Funded by the Florida Legislature and produced and operated by WFSU-TV, it provides coverage of Florida state government and public institutions. Its programming includes legislative sessions, government meetings, Florida Supreme Court proceedings, public policy discussions, and other state public affairs events.
TFC began statewide gavel-to-gavel coverage of the Florida Legislature in 1996. Coverage expanded to Florida Supreme Court oral arguments in 1997, and the service developed into a year-round public affairs operation in 2002. Its programming also addresses statewide policy issues, government agencies, and developments affecting communities across Florida.
During hurricanes and other states of emergency, The Florida Channel provides coverage of briefings from the Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee. Its statewide role centers on documenting government activity and providing public affairs coverage related to Florida's institutions, policymaking, and civic life.
