Overview
WTVJ (branded as “NBC 6 South Florida”) is a full-service television station
licensed to Miami, Florida, and operated by the network NBC Owned Television
Stations. Established on March 21 1949, it holds the distinction of being
the first television station to go on the air in the state of Florida and
one of the earliest in the United States.
Over its decades of operation, WTVJ has covered the growing South Florida region—serving not only Miami, but also the nearby communities of Fort Lauderdale, Broward and Palm Beach counties—offering a mix of network programming, local news and community-oriented features. At present, as an NBC owned-and-operated station, it carries the full NBC lineup and produces its own local newscasts.
With its heritage and evolving role in the region’s media landscape, WTVJ remains a prominent local broadcaster in South Florida.
