TV Channel Overview
WEAR-TV is a local television station licensed to Pensacola, Florida, United
States, serving Northwest Florida and the broader Mobile-Pensacola market.
Its primary 3.1 channel operates as WEAR ABC 3, carrying ABC network programming
alongside locally produced news, weather, sports, and community reporting.
Coverage is particularly centered on Pensacola and surrounding areas in
Northwest Florida, while also reflecting a cross-state television market
extending into southwest Alabama.
Since 2025, WEAR-TV has also carried NBC programming on its 3.2 digital subchannel under the NBC 15 brand. A digital subchannel is an additional program service transmitted within the same licensed station's digital signal; NBC 15 is therefore part of WEAR-TV rather than a separate licensed television station. This structure allows WEAR-TV to carry both ABC and NBC services while keeping ABC 3 as its primary 3.1 service.
WEAR-TV began broadcasting in 1954. It subsequently became established as the ABC affiliate for the Pensacola area, with local journalism centered on Northwest Florida. Its present channel arrangement reflects the cross-state character of the Mobile-Pensacola television market.
