TV Channel Overview
Open Stage Media (OSM) is a nonprofit public-access media organization
based in Schenectady, New York. Created after the City of Schenectady designated
Proctors to manage public, educational, and government access cable television
in 2010, OSM provides local residents, nonprofit groups, and community
organizations with opportunities to create and share locally focused programming.
Its television service is organized around three channels: Public Access Channel, Collaborative Studios Channel, and Government Channel. The Public Access Channel carries programs submitted or produced by community members. Collaborative Studios Channel serves as OSM’s arts-and-education-oriented channel, while the Government Channel presents municipal programming, including Schenectady City Council meetings.
OSM also supports local media production by providing studio facilities, cameras, production equipment, training, and cablecast time for eligible community producers. In this way, the service combines public expression, arts and educational programming, and government coverage within a local community-media framework centered on Schenectady.
