KXAS-TV (branded as NBC 5, also known digitally as NBC DFW) is a major
NBC television station licensed to Fort Worth, Texas, and serving the Dallas–Fort
Worth metroplex.
First signing on the air on September 27, 1948 (originally as WBAP-TV), it was the very first television station in the state of Texas.
Today, KXAS-TV is owned and operated by NBCUniversal through its NBC Owned Television Stations division.
The station is based in Fort Worth, with its transmitter located in Cedar Hill, south of Dallas.
