TV Channel Overview
Telemetro is a Spanish-language free-to-air television channel based in Panama City, Panama Province, Panama, and operated by Corporación Medcom Panamá. It began broadcasting in 1981 as a metropolitan service centered on films. The channel expanded to Colón in 1983 and later extended its signal into Veraguas, Coclé, Herrera, and Los Santos in 1991, followed by Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro in 1992, developing from a metropolitan station into a national television service.
Telemetro carries a broad general-interest schedule. Its current output combines national and international news, current affairs, sports, entertainment, lifestyle and other general programs, along with drama and telenovela programming. News coverage encompasses politics, the economy, technology, health, sports, and other developments in Panama and abroad.
Telemetro and RPC TV were brought together under Corporación Medcom Panamá in 1997. Within Medcom’s television operations, Telemetro remains one of the group’s free-to-air channels, alongside RPC TV and OYE. Its programming mix places news and information alongside entertainment for a Spanish-speaking audience across Panama.
