Overview
Weathernews LiVE is a Japanese-language weather information channel produced
by Weathernews Inc., a private weather information company headquartered
in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. The service began in April 2009
under the name SOLiVE24 and was renamed Weathernews LiVE in April 2018.
The channel presents weather forecasts and explanations of changing conditions across Japan. Its coverage becomes more detailed during typhoons, heavy rain, snow, earthquakes, tsunamis, and other situations in which timely weather and disaster-prevention information is especially important. Weather presenters work in coordination with meteorologists at the company’s forecast center, providing explanations based on current observations and forecast analysis.
Reports submitted by people in different parts of Japan are also used as information about local weather conditions. By combining professional meteorological analysis with observations from the public, Weathernews LiVE focuses on practical weather information, changing conditions, and awareness of weather-related risks.
