Fuji Television (Fuji TV / フジテレビ), formally Fuji Television Network, Inc.
(株式会社フジテレビジョン), is a private commercial television broadcaster headquartered
in Odaiba, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. Its terrestrial service covers the Kanto
region, while the station serves as the key station of both the Fuji News
Network (FNN) and Fuji Network System (FNS), linking affiliated broadcasters
across Japan.
Fuji Television began regular broadcasting in 1959. Its history includes an early role in Japanese television animation, with the station beginning the country’s first domestically produced television anime series in 1963. The company moved its headquarters to Odaiba in 1997, establishing the waterfront district as its main production and broadcasting base.
Today, Fuji Television follows a general-interest format spanning news and information, drama, variety and entertainment, music, anime and children’s programming, and sports. Through FNN, it coordinates news with affiliated stations, while FNS supports nationwide program distribution. Its Tokyo-based production therefore combines Kanto-area broadcasting with network programming and reporting for audiences across Japan.
