Armenia’s television environment is shaped by a strong Armenian-language national media space centered in Yerevan, together with regional broadcasters serving individual provinces. Public Television of Armenia operates First Channel as the national public service, while the broader sector also includes privately operated nationwide, capital-based, and regional channels. The public broadcaster maintains international services as well, extending Armenian television to audiences beyond the country.
Squid TV’s editorial profile presents First Channel through its institutional role, language, programming focus, location, and national reach. Placing the broadcaster within Armenia’s wider television structure helps show how public media fit alongside other national and regional services. It also offers a way to explore how television reflects public life, cultural identity, and the connections between Armenia’s domestic media environment and Armenian audiences abroad.
