TV Channel Overview
RTK (Radio Television of Kosovo; Albanian: Radiotelevizioni i Kosovës) is the public service broadcaster in Kosovo, based in Pristina. It operates television and radio services for audiences across Kosovo, with Albanian and Serbian as its principal broadcast languages and additional programming for other communities.
Its television output spans news and current affairs, culture, education, sports, entertainment, documentaries, and children's programming. Public-service obligations include informing the population, supporting cultural and educational content, and providing programming for Kosovo's different communities. RTK's television services include general programming as well as channels with more specialized roles in news and information, Serbian-language broadcasting, and cultural or educational content.
RTK was established in 1999 in the aftermath of the Kosovo War, with support from the European Broadcasting Union under mandates involving the United Nations and the OSCE. Kosovo's later broadcasting law defined RTK as a nonprofit public institution with an information, educational, cultural, and entertainment mission. Its headquarters remain in Pristina.
