TV Channel Overview
Press TV (پرس تیوی) is an English-language international news channel based in Tehran, Iran, and operated by the World Service of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). It addresses audiences outside Iran as part of IRIB’s international television activities, with news and current affairs focused on Iran, the Middle East, and wider global developments.
The channel’s schedule combines news bulletins with reports, interviews, studio discussions, analysis, and documentary programs. Its subject matter spans international politics, diplomacy, economics, social issues, science, culture, and developments affecting Iran and the broader Middle East. Coverage is presented in English for an international audience, distinguishing Press TV from IRIB’s Persian-language domestic television services.
Press TV began regular broadcasting in 2007. Its establishment added a dedicated English-language television news service to IRIB’s international broadcasting structure, alongside services in other languages. Since then, the channel has continued to concentrate on international news and current affairs while maintaining Tehran as the center of its operations.
