Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN / شبکه خبر جمهوری اسلامی ایران) is a Persian-language national news channel operated by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), based in Tehran, Iran. It serves audiences across the country with continuous coverage of domestic and international developments, placing news and current affairs at the center of its output. Within IRIB’s news organization, IRINN serves as the television news channel, while the IRIB News Agency operates as a news agency and web-based news service.
IRINN reports on politics, government and public affairs, the economy, social issues, science and culture, provincial developments, international affairs, and sports. News bulletins are complemented by interviews, reports, discussions, and other programs examining events in Iran and abroad. Coverage from Iran’s provinces gives the channel a nationwide scope beyond developments in the capital.
IRINN began operations in 1999 as a dedicated television news service within IRIB. Its establishment added a specialist news channel to an Iranian television system that had previously relied mainly on news segments within general channels. IRINN has since remained part of IRIB’s national television structure, alongside its general, cultural, educational, sports, and other specialist channels.
