Alikhbariah Syria (الإخبارية السورية / Syrian News Channel / Al-Ikhbariya) is an Arabic-language official news
channel of the Syrian Arab Republic, based in Damascus, Syria. It operates
within the Syrian General Authority for Radio and Television (GART), the
state broadcasting authority, and focuses primarily on political, economic,
local, and public-affairs developments across Syria.
National and local news forms a central part of the schedule, supported by reports, interviews, analysis, and discussion programs. Coverage follows government activity, economic developments, public services, and issues affecting communities in different parts of the country, while Arab and international affairs provide a wider regional context. The channel also reports on health, education, culture, sports, and technology, giving its output a broader public-affairs scope beyond political news alone.
The Alikhbariah name dates to a Syrian news channel first launched in 2010 under the country’s state broadcasting system. Broadcasting was interrupted during the political transition that began in December 2024. In May 2025, Alikhbariah returned with a new visual identity as part of the Ministry of Information’s reorganization and relaunch of official Syrian media. GART remained in operation through the transition and continues to oversee state radio and television services.
