Overview
Egyptian Channel 1 (القناة الأولى المصرية), also known as Egyptian First Channel, is a free-to-air television channel
based in Cairo. Launched in 1960, it was the first terrestrial television
service established in Egypt and remains an important part of the country's
public broadcasting system.
The channel is operated by the National Media Authority (NMA, الهيئة الوطنية للإعلام), Egypt's state public broadcasting organization headquartered at the
Maspero broadcasting complex along the Nile in central Cairo. As one of
the main general-interest channels within the Egyptian national television
network, Egyptian Channel 1 broadcasts a range of programming that typically
includes news bulletins, cultural and social programs, talk shows, and
coverage of national events.
