TV Channel Overview
Yemen TV (قناة اليمن الفضائية) is an Arabic-language state television channel affiliated with Yemen’s
internationally recognized government. It currently broadcasts on a temporary
basis from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with additional studios in Marib, Aden,
and Taiz, Yemen. Its coverage focuses on domestic news, government affairs,
and developments across the country, alongside regional and international
events.
News bulletins, reports, interviews, and studio discussions form a substantial part of the schedule. Coverage addresses politics, the economy, public affairs, security and military developments, sports, and international news. Other programs deal with religion, youth, rural life, culture, and social topics, with interviews and discussion formats examining issues affecting Yemen.
The channel’s institutional lineage reaches back to the state television service established in Sana’a in 1975. After Houthi forces seized the original Sana’a television facilities in 2015, the Yemen TV name and institutional legacy became divided between two parallel operations. The government-affiliated service now operates separately from a Houthi-controlled version in Sana’a; both continue to use the Yemen TV name and logo, reflecting the fragmentation of Yemen’s former unified state broadcasting system.
